Jews of Eastern Europe settled in the old Scheunenviertel' outside the gates of Berlin. Until 1933 the Jewish way of life developed in this area with its shops, synagogues and grave yards. Tiergarten - Once Hunting Grounds – Now Central Park
Enjoy a walk through the biggest of Berlin’s parks, Great Tiergarten and follow the traces of history through five centuries. The tour starts at Brandenburg Gate, the "Green Gate" of Berlin. Passing the Soviet Memorial, we will stroll down the Street of the 17 of June, named after the workers’ uprising in former East Germany in 1953. Then we enter the picturesque landscape of the park, designed by the famous landscape designer Lenné. One of the highlights is Luise Island, dedicated to a former Prussian queen, who is even today remembered as the 'Queen of Hearts'. Along Rousseau Island our way leads us to Bellevue Palace, the seat of the Federal President. Finally, you will get to know something about the 'moving' history of the Victory Column. After passing by the New Lake, the tour will end at Tiergarten S-Bahn station. Although, if the weather is nice, you may also take a seat in one of Berlin’s biggest and probably best-known beer garden, the 'Cafe at the New Lake'. Duration: 3 hours |

The District around Kreuzberg Hill

Hoher Fläming and Jüterbog
Monastery Lehnin, the oldest Cistercian monastery of the Mark Brandenburg (1180) is the first stop on your today’s full day trip. The trip continues through the “three-castle-country” (Wiesenburg, Burg Rabenstein, Burg Eisenhardt in Belzig) to Treuenbrietzen. We will stop for a moment here at the Sabinchen fountain, where you get to hear the bloody street ballad about that lady and also may sing along. Finally we go for a walk through the well-preserved medieval town of Jüterbog with its remarkable old town gates. Duration: 8 hours. |

A trip through Mark Brandenburg
Passing lakes and woods through nice avenues, your way leads you to Niederfinow. You surmount here by ship a height difference of 36 metres at the historical ship hoist (separate cost, on request). A side trip to the Cistercian monastery Chorin makes you familiar with the Christianization history of the Mark Brandenburg. The trip continues along the Werbellin lake to the village of Wandlitz. You make a short stop over there at the former Goebbels’schen country house, the later cadre training unit for FDJ (Free German Youth) and the SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany). After 1989 it became the speculation object of the Treuhand (trust) and was to be rebuilt to one of the biggest conference centres of Germany. Duration: 8 hours |

Monastery Neuzelle and Frankfurt (Oder)
Via Bad Saarow-Pieskow, the glamorous mud bath with its dazzling past, you drive to the Eastern Mark Brandenburg, toward Schaubetal to Neuzelle. The former Cistercian monastery from the 13th century with its baroque church is one of the few Catholic sacred buildings of significant rank, embedded in a rather Protestant region. At the old monastery brewery a delightful plonk – the “Schwarze Abt “(black abbot) is still brewed here today. The trip continues to Frankfurt (Oder), the hometown of Heinrich von Kleist. You will see the Kleist house and Marienchurch. The original gothic church windows were missing since WWII, but came back from Russia in 2003. Duration: 8 hours |

Babelsberg – The landscape park by a master hand
“If art transforms into nature, nature deals with art.” (Lessing) For the crown prince Wilhelm, later to become Emperor Wilhelm the First, Hermann Ludwig Heinrich Earl von Pückler-Muskau created his masterpiece, a landscape park in English manner. His picturesque method combined the outer appearance and views of the castle with the picturesque seeming landscape. Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) – Paradise on Earth
The discovery of the Pacific islands inspired King Friedrich Wilhelm II to enlarge his "new garden" by a remote island, peacock island. The "exotic" was staged here by menageries with "strange" animals and an architecture of a distant and different world. Enjoy the crossing by ferry: The calls of the peacocks welcome you just as they did 200 years ago. The romantic walk leads you to the rose garden, to peacock island’s small castle, to the picturesque fountain and to the Luisentemple. Afterwards come into the original Russian small wood house “Nikolskoe”, a present of the king to his daughter, the tsarina Alexandra Feodorowna.
